Monday 12th May 2008 v Kenilworth Wardens - Away

Kenilworth Wardens 246 runs - Snitterfield 254 runs

The Snitterfield under 11s have won their first game!

In a high scoring and thrilling contest, the Snitterfield Snipes Juniors out scored the Kenilworth Wardens to record their first win in only their second ever match!

After winning the toss Snitterfield's captain Oliver Matthews chose to bat first on an immaculate Wardens wicket. The opening partnership of Rory Chester and Alex Straker manfully endured the excellent bowling of the Wardens opening bowlers.

Following the openers good work, the second pairing of Oliver Lees and Oliver Matthews upped the run-rate, moving the score to 219 at the half way stage of the innings. Henry Reynolds and Charlie Titterton continued to build the Snipes total by adding 13 to the total. The final pairing of Luke Northwood and Tom Jackson combined careful stroke play and nerve stretching running between the wickets to post an impressive final Snitterfield score of 254 runs.

In the field the accurate bowling of Oliver Lees, Alex Straker, Oliver Matthews and Rory Chester conceded a total of 8 runs for the 8 overs they bowled. The good bowling figures were made possible by all in the field, producing a fine display of teamwork that included 2 run outs by Alex Straker and Oliver Lees which were completed by the safe gloves of Luke Northwood behind the stumps. The Wardens run chase ended on 246 runs (which is an impressive total in itself), leaving Snitterfield the victors by 8 runs.

Monday 5th May 2008 v Kineton - Home

Kineton 258 runs - Snitterfield 214 runs

The Juniors first match finished with Kineton winning by 44 runs, which, considering it was Snitterfields first game and the opposition was an established team with experience of playing in league match conditions, the performance was extremely encouraging with all the players contributing.

Tom Jackson, Oliver Albrecht and Henry Renolds all bowled extremely accurately, conceding only 11 runs in their 6 overs. The stars in the field were Rory Chester, Oliver Lees and Morton Schmidt-Hansen who stopped every ball in their half of the field.

Luke Northwood with the Keepers gloves on managed to prevent the ball passing him on many occasions by diving about like a goal-keeper to some of the more adventurous Sniterfield bowling.

Some beefy batting blows resulting in 2 sixes for Oliver Matthews (the only sixes of the match). This and a great catch by Oliver Albrecht were the outstanding moments of the match.
